Frequently asked questions
What does a philanthropy advisor do?+
A philanthropy advisor helps you turn generosity into a plan — clarifying your goals, mapping out how to give (time, money, platform, or network), and connecting you with the right people to execute it.
Who does Philan work with?+
Philan works with two groups: individuals — often Gen Z, Millennial, and Gen Alpha athletes, entrepreneurs, content creators, and streamers — building a personal giving plan, and nonprofits with $750K–$5M in annual revenue building fundraising capacity.
How much does it cost to work with Philan?+
For individuals, entry points are The Chalk Box ($39/month) for content and templates, and The Drawing Board ($495 one-time) for a single advising session. Clients who continue with Philan long-term move to scoped, project-based pricing that scales with the size of the work — and if that work grows into a full organization, pricing becomes comparable to Philan's nonprofit tiers. For nonprofits, Basic Support ($3,250 one-time) is the starting tier of a three-tier consulting track that scales with engagement level as the organization grows.
What is "Friends of Philan"?+
Friends of Philan is Philan's vetted network of independent advisors. When a client's needs go beyond what Philan offers directly, we make a trusted recommendation matched to that client's specific situation.
